The HaliDads group is Halidon Primary School's Fathering Project program. HaliDad's was founded in Term 4 of 2018.
It's primarily a group created for Fathers and Father figures of Halidon Primary School kids to communicate in an open forum, share ideas, tips and work together to build a stronger community of awesome Halidon Father figures!

To get this off the ground, we signed up with The Fathering Project which is:
"A University of Western Australia-based not-for-profit charity led by a team of professionals that aims to help fathers realise how important they are in a child’s life and to give them advice on how to encourage their children"

We also have a HaliDads Facebook Group which anyone from Halidon is encouraged to join.

The HaliDads organising group was kicked off by Paul Barnes and currently has 8 Dads and 1 Deputy Principal (Andrew Schmidt) involved. Helen Demiris (School Principal), The school administration and the P&C committee have been incredibly supportive of this initiative and a P&C sub-committee has been formed to allow the HaliDads group to leverage off the existing P&C structure.

On Tuesday 20th November 2018, the HaliDads group held their first event, a BBQ breakfast for the kids of Halidon with their fathers or father figures. Bacon & egg rolls and fruit juice were on offer for a gold coin donation and the "Cuppa Time" coffee van provided the much needed caffeine. There was a great turn-out of Dad's and their kids. Anton Beets, a representative from the Fathering Project team kindly attended and gave a brief talk on what the Fathering Project is all about. Many thanks to Anton for his much needed assistance in getting our group up and running.

Also, a big thank you to the local businesses of IGA Kingsley and Bakers Delight Kingsley for their very generous donations of food for our event and to the Halidon P&C for financial support with this event.
